Nancy Contreras

Q. Occupation:

CEO and founder of Ragazza Bazaar

Q. How did you become interested in the style industry?

I have always loved fashion, as a teen I admired fashion campaigns and collected magazines.  I wallpapered my room with tear sheets from campaigns by Guess, Gucci, Versace and any editorial that reflected my style. Every morning I would draw inspiration for a look from the mag sheets I displayedon the wall.

Q. What inspired your website?

It has been a work in process and has changed with every update.  It is inspired by digital magazines, fashion and designer sites.

Q. Why the name ‘Ragazza Bazaar’?

I wanted to have a name that can be remembered but also with meaning: Ragazza = woman in Italy, Bazaar = market . The intention was to create a website where women can shop and find inspiration for everyday style. But it has evolved into so much more and has grown into its name, as I am surrounded by amazing and talented women that share the same passion and have become an important part of my world.

Q. How would you describe your style?

Elegant, simple, and comfortable.

Q. What is your favorite piece in your closet?

The LBD (Little Black Dress)

Q. What is your favorite piece that you have designed?

It is hard to say, as I am proud of all of my designs, but if I had to choose, I would say the ruffled strapless crop top and pencil skirt two-piece, as it has become a signature style for Ragazza Bazaar and has been the most popular.

Q. What designers do you admire and why?

There are so many that I appreciate: Carolina Herrera for her feminine and elegant collections, Zuhair Murad for his attention to detail and sheer gowns, Tory Burch for her classic casual styles and brands like Gucci, Versace, Givenchy, Yves St. Laurent, Oscar de la Renta and new designers like Alexis Mabille,Alexander Wang, Nannette Lapore –the list goes on!

Ragazza Bazaar seems to cover it all from a style blog, YouTube videos, models, etc. What does the future hold?

I hope to inspire young woman to follow their passion and I would like Ragazza Bazaar to become the platform for upcoming designers, models, makeup artists and creatives that share a passion for their trade, as I do.
