June 3 marks the first celebration of DC Comic’s Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman Day is an event in honor of the Amazonian heroine in celebration of the upcoming Wonder Woman movie. DC has partnered with retail stores Barnes & Noble, Costco, Walmart and Amazon to hold in-store and digital promotions for the event. (For example, Barnes & Noble will offer a buy-two-get-the-third-free deal on DC titles.)
Local comic book stores Mayhem Toyz & Comics and Asylum Comics will participate in WW festivities as well. Fans can get free copies of two special-edition “Wonder Woman Day” issues – one from DC Universe Rebirth and the other from DC Super Hero Girls – while supplies last. As always, cosplay is encouraged.
The Alamo Drafthouse will host a women-only screening of “Wonder Woman” movie on Wednesday, June 7. Proceeds will go towards The League of Women Voters.
DC has also put together an activity kit filled with coloring pages, word searches and more that you can find on their website. For more information on Wonder Woman Day, visit dccomics.com/wwday.
