Cool, and on the forefront of things we love, or don't yet even know we love - that is one way to describe Ya-Ya's with its small gag gifts, cool magnets, thrifty clothes and a gazillion other kitschy things. It brings to mind an edgy, freewheeling approach to shopping, plus it's a cool place to hangout. This store, which is sort of a nomad and free spirit in its own right, has relocated three times since opening in August of 2004 and has settled on Stanton between Robinson and Cincinnati. The shop of knick-knacks is full of spunk, humor and above all, charm, just like its owner, Val. Whether it be a plastic rat, a Devil Duckie, a Frida Kalho compact mirror, or perhaps a cool purse, this boutique gets high scores for being funky. Out of the ordinary is a good thing, and Ya-Ya's eccentricities are its biggest asset. 2603 N. Stanton St., 915-544-9292.
