Cabo Joe’s

If you watched the World Cup this year, we hope Cabo Joe’s is one of the places where you zealously cheered for your team. The Mexico vs. Croatia game (in which Mexico won 3-1) saw enthusiastic faces paint their faces green, white and red, men in sombreros and hotties sporting Mexico jerseys. Along with their Three Amigos margarita trio and Baja-style street food, the venue considers itself the premier place to watch a boxing match, UFC fight, football game and all things competitive (and evidently, so do the voters). 3233 N. Mesa St., Ste. 103, 915-544-2424; 1610 Sioux Dr., 915-775-1135; and additional locations, eatatcabojoes.com.

El Luchador

It’s not everyday a rookie becomes the MVP, but that’s what happened with El Luchador taking the Best Sports Bar title in its very first year. The sports bar, which means “wrestler” in Spanish, has several TVs around the bar so you can watch your favorite sport, whether it’s Tony Romo throwing an interception, LeBron James draining a jumper or Clint Dempsey scoring a goal for Team USA. But it’s not all about watching sports – or the beautiful staff. El Luchador has margaritas, some with beer or Red Bull added to them, and of course, food. Fill up with one of their variety of burgers, carne asada tacos, fish tacos or the jalapeño boats. 1613 N. Zaragoza Rd., Suite 209, 915-855-8226; 504 W. San Antonio St., 915-544-8226.
