Neon Desert Music Festival
Quality and progress are two huge factors behind Neon Desert’s three-year domination of this category. Founded in 2011, the downtown fest has fine-tuned its lineup every year to appeal to ever more discerning tastes. What’s Up voters were reeling from 2013’s double-whammy of Martin Solveig and Molotov when they voted at The Dig in May, and that was before this year’s headliner royale of Calle 13, MGMT, Wiz Khalifa and Zedd. The upgrades haven’t gone unnoticed: Attendance more than doubled in 2014; music websites are gushing about the fest in industry lists; and artists like Zedd, Immortal Technique, Panteón Rococó and The Bloody Beetroots lit up social media with nods to El Paso. neondesertmusicfestival.com.
