Eddie Holguin’s minimalistic Shawver Park Christmas lights display

’Tis the season to be sparkly, but folly of all folly, the sparse Christmas lights at Shawver Park really missed the mark last December, especially considering the budget: $25,000, requested from the city at the last minute by District 6 Representative Eddie Holguin – who happened to be an outspoken critic of excess government spending – and who happened to be running for county judge at the time. Local media skewered the humble display, and even CNN poked fun at the embarrassing effort and its price tag. Mr. Holguin, here’s a note to self: Next time, let Fred Loya show you how it’s done.
