After 45 years, Casa Jurado has closed down. One of El Paso’s most popular Mexican restaurants at one time also had an additional location on Cincinnati Street. Owners felt it was time to close after business slowed during construction on Doniphan and new businesses opened in the area.
Salt Box Pours & Provisions has also closed.
More new coffee shops are popping up Downtown.
Cafe Tolteca is at 602 Magoffin. Arroz con cafe and open mic nights – what more could you ask for in a coffee shop?
Craft Cafe has opened in the new One:One coworker space at 500 N. Oregon. The coffee shop specializes in vegan artisan lattes and makes it’s own nut-based milks. Meanwhile, the eastside now has The Hive Java Lounge at 1505 George Dieter.
Fahrenheit 32, the Kern place ice cream shop that specializes in Thai rolled ice cream is expanding. The San Antonio location is already open, while locations in Horizon and Las Cruces are still in the works.
Moe’s Southwest Grill is set to open at 3261 Joe Battle. The franchise is very similar to Chipotle.
Sweet Addiction Food Truck has opened a brick and mortar location at 2831 Mobile, across from Kiki’s. The bakery is known for their cupcakes, but also specializes in cookies and pies.
Healthy Desires Cafe is a new northeast restaurant located at 10710 Gateway North Blvd. Breakfast is served all day, while lunch and dinner is served from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Breakfast, shakes, sandwiches, bowls and more are on the menu, including vegan and gluten-free options.
