Global Coffee is the East Side’s newest coffee shop at 1513 N. Zaragoza. Coffee is locally roasted and available as a pour-over, espresso, cappuccino and even a mazapan latte. Find them on Facebook at GlobalCoffeeEP.
The online restaurant reservation company OpenTable listed Café Central among its “100 Most Romantic Restaurants in America” list earlier this month. The list was based on 10 million restaurant reviews by OpenTable users.
Speaking of Café Central, you can now order a juicy New York strip or T-bone steak at Café Central owner Alejandro Orozco’s new Eastside restaurant, West TX Chophouse. Located at 1135 Airway Blvd, the casual eatery serves cuts from its on-site butchery. Outside of steak, menu items include poblano cream soup and a chicken tequila sandwich.
The Pizza Joint East is up and running inside Funkmeyers Rec Room at 1506 Lee Trevino. Hours are 3-10:30 pm on Mondays and 11:30-1:30 am Tuesday-Sunday.
MidiCi The Neopolitan Pizza Company is opening a location at N. Mesa. The California-based fast-casual gourmet pizza chain uses non-GMO ingredients, double zero flour imported from Naples and serves fresh artisan burrata plates. Visit MyMidiCi.com to browse the menu.
Nomu Cafe will open late February to early March on the first floor of the new ArtSpace El Paso Lofts at 601 N. Oregon. Nomu means “to drink” in Japanese, and the cafe will be serving specialty health drinks, coffee, teas, beer to go and food to go.

Nuovo Cappetto, located in the Cincinnati Entertainment District has closed down and is blaming their decline on the streetcar construction. The original Cappetto’s on Montana closed down in 2012.
