This year, the popular La Union Maze, which opened on Sept. 23, pays homage to the El Paso Chihuahuas.
“We thought it would be a fun, intricate design, being that Chico is so popular, so we approached the Chihuahuas,” said Lucy Sondgeroth, who owns the maze with her husband.
Other new elements have been added to the maze this year.
“We have built a beautiful pavilion for special events, our farm animals have bigger pens and we are adding a culvert roll to the other 13 plus activities,” Sondgeroth said.
Along with 13 acres of pumpkins, visitors can enjoy wagon rides, haunted hours and special events like “Bring Your Dog to the Maze Day” and the annual pumpkin smash.
“We are looking forward to having a great season and an even better turn out,” Sondgeroth said.
La Union Maze is located at 1101 Highway 28 in La Union, New Mexico and is open from 5 to 10 p.m. Fridays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays and 12-6 p.m. Sundays. Entrance fees range from free to $12 while season tickets range from $18 to $31. For more info, visit LaUnionMaze.com or call 915-549-1323.
